It’s my long time friend’s wedding today.

I was in an unusual position today, most of the time, I’d be the one documenting down the couple’s memorable day. But today, I’m part of the groom’s heng dai (brother) list. I still find it totally weird to leave my camera at home, so I decided to make it more compact than usual. I mounted my camera only with the EF 50mm f/1.8 II, while leaving my speedlite at home. With that, I have my most compact configuration with my DSLR.

Congratulations to James and his wife. :) Cheers!

It’s been quite a while since I last updated my blog. I’ve been caught up with work lately. My schedule’s quite tight recently, due to the sudden change in my life and routine recently. I’m still trying to cope with the new change. That explains my irregular update and activities in the blog, as well as facebook.

Anyways, I’m gonna share this Custom Functions for Canon Speedlite 580EX II here. I own one unit of this speedlite myself, but I don’t quite remember the custom function (or Cn as displayed on the LCD panel).

Damian + Georgina

October is coming to its end now, it’s Halloween tomorrow, and November comes the day after.

As I prepared for this blog entry, I just remembered about the Level Up’s media preview session, which I was invited to participate in. I will just have to schedule that after this post then.

I’m posting a wedding entry this time round, and it will be the first of the wedding day series to be featured in the new gallery in my blog.

Congratulations to Damian and Georgina on their wedding, which fell on the 10th October 2009. It was a great experience shooting their wedding, and it was also my first visit to St. Peter’s Church in Kuching. I’ve heard so much about the church, and it is indeed a beautiful church.

On other note, I need to make arrangement to shift my blog to new host now. The current one is running low on space, and it’s running low real fast.

I’m adding that into one of the many tasks in my to-do list.

p/s: There are about 50+ photos in the series, so it may take time for the gallery to load, before you can browse smoothly. I’ll be uploading more to my facebook album.

Elaine at Lake Park

Here’s a continuation from the previous post on the portrait session at Lake Park. This entry will feature only Elaine, whom I think has very nice facial feature. She’s very nice to work with, and I enjoyed working with her the last time out.

The shots here are pretty straightforward and simple, as I wanted to keep things simple and easygoing, since we didn’t have the luxury of time. All the concepts came flowing in on the spot that day.

Well, you’ve seen the photos on top before in the previous entry, and I’ll leave you with the rest in my collection taken at the Lake Park the last time out. Do wait patiently as it takes a little bit longer to load all the photos from the shoot here, as I have 21 photos from the day.

An Afternoon Date with Honda NSX

I had my first actual car photoshoot, and I guess I could consider myself lucky to have the legendary Honda NSX as my first model.

I was never a fan of sports car, and I seriously know not much about car and I don’t read car magazines. So, I was a bit clueless how to get the shoot started. We definitely didn’t have enough equipment to do a strobist style in this shoot. Hence, we proceed with the available lighting. We reached the site at around 3pm, and we commenced shooting around 3:30pm.

My main objective for the day is to give myself a hands on trial on the panning car chase view shoot, whereby I shoot the trailing car from a vehicle staying ahead of the subject. This requires an extensive level of coordination between the two drivers in both vehicles, and myself as well. After some static shoot, we moved about to do the trailing shoot, before we continued shooting at a different location.

For this shoot, I used all my lenses, the standard 18-50mm, the prime 50mm, and the tele zoom 90-300mm. I wished I had a polarizer with me, and I wish I have IS lens, as I struggled with my  90-300mm lens, with the shake and image quality.

Definitely I need more practice ground to do panning shots, which I picked up some tips from Wong from BMW Performance Days couple months back. Shooting cars can be very interesting after all, maybe we can plan and execute more exciting, and dynamic, dramatic shots in time to come.
