Catching that bit of Lunar Eclipse

December 11th, 2011
Catching that bit of Lunar Eclipse

ECLIPSE: Not exactly a money shot, but that'll do. The moon hid away behind the cloud earlier one when the eclipse started.

Thanks to the tweets, and some posts in FB, I only got to know about the lunar eclipse happening at South East Asia tonight moments ago. When I found out about it, I said to myself, “Why not just take a peek at the moon, and see how it is like?”

So, I went out of the house and looked up. The shy moon was hiding behind the cloud that time, and I saw nothing. Oh, great! I went back in. But, I still managed to catch a bit of the eclipse at 12 midnight. As you could see on the image above, there was still some bit of shadow casting over the moon. Some two hours later, the full moon was clear again.

There you go, that bit of lunar eclipse. My very first experience.

MY FM古晉台慶之燦爛序章

December 4th, 2011

MY FM, one of many radio network operated by AMP Radio Networks, has established their Kuching chapter for a year already. They decide to celebrate their one-year birthday in style, by staging a show for their fans and listeners at Stadium Perpaduan, Kuching. Among the celebrities who marked their appearance at the show include Nicholas Teo (張棟樑), MY FM DJ/Actor Jack Lim (林德榮), MY FM DJ/actress MeiYan (顏薇恩), MY Kuching DJs AiSing (愛心) and Amelyn and many more. I was able to get a VIP admission ticket to this show, thanks to a friend.

Here is a preview of what I had captured from where I was able to access, mind you I was not holding a photographer’s pass.

Heritage Detail

November 25th, 2011

I have a growing interest in photographing details whenever I go on travel, especially the cultural and heritage details. I am fascinated by such details as it unfolds the history in form of art. Mind you, History was never my favorite subjects back in the schooldays. But now, I’ve come to appreciate it more than ever.

There are a lot of places in Malaysia where we can see such heritage and cultural details, and Penang is one of those which has plenty lot to offer. I have shared this one on my FB page sometime ago. It was taken at the Pinang Peranakan Mansion, located at Church Street, Penang.

PHOTOGRAPHING THE DETAILS: One of the lamps used in the mansion, this shot was taken with available lighting only.

It’s a shame that I haven’t been able to process the photos I took during that trip, I hope to be able to share them out soon.

Woof Woof!

November 17th, 2011

This website is lacking of update for the past few weeks due to the busy schedule. It is unforgivable! I couldn’t even keep the Picture of the Week (POTW) running. So sorry for that. I have been planning for a series of new content for update soon.

But, for the time being, I hope to make up to you all with this cute, adorable puppy. I had a quick and short portrait session last month. Weather wasn’t really kind in the morning. We were glad the rain stopped a while in the evening. However, we had to deal with mosquitoes after the rain. Hence, the short session.

Woof Woof.

WOOF WOOF: Quick edit this photo with Aperture 3.0's quick edit feature, with some minor custom tweak.

Picture of the Week

October 17th, 2011

Couple of days ago, I thought the moon was just beautiful. Hence, the entry this week features a moon shot. It  wasn’t a full moon, but I thought it was just nice.

I took this shot with my longest lens available, the 70-200mm f/4L USM. The shot was, of course, shot at its tele end at 200mm. As stated in the caption, I shot this handheld at 1/60 sec, f/14 at ISO400. I took three shot, and this one is good enough at the 2nd attempt.

Picture of the Week.

Moon Shot: (cropped) 1/60, f/14, ISO400 at 200mm on EOS 50D

I’ll be busy with preparation for some assignment next week. Hopefully everything goes well. It’s good to be busy at this end, and I am sure all the effort will bear fruit when time comes.

Cheers!

Picture of the Week

October 10th, 2011

There was no Picture of the Week being featured last week, due to my travelling to outstation, coupled with a shooting assignment oevr the weekend. Then, upon returning to Kuching, I was stunned (still am) by Steve Jobs’ death. He will be missed.

This week, I’m posting a sample pic from the ever-reliable Panasonic LX3. The trend these days has swirled toward mirrorless, interchangeable lenses digital camera, in the likes of Panasonic’s G-series, Olympus PEN, Sony’s NEX etc. Even Nikon has joined in the ranks with the announcement of the V1 and J1.

Despite so, I believe such high performance compact still has its appeal to the consumers. I personally would rather to have a pocket sized compact for leisure trip, than having to get the interchangeable lenses anytime!

Here this image was shot in RAW with LX3, at a 16:9 ratio. There wasn’t much adjustment applied, only minor tweak on exposure, contrast and WB. This was shot with the Macro focusing mode on.

COFFEE: Shot with Panasonic Lumix LX3

I personally think it’s pretty slick! The successor to this model in Panasonic product line would be Lumix LX5.
