And I kid you not. I have recently attended my friend’s wedding reception held at Petaling Jaya. The hosting venue was at Oriental Banquet Restaurant. It was my first time attending a wedding in Peninsular, as a guest. There’s quite a few differences between the dinner reception over there, and the ones held here in Kuching. Then again, I wouldn’t use this as a benchmark to wedding reception in Peninsular (or PJ/KL). This wedding reception is rather out of ordinary.
A brief introduction on the couple and this wedding reception. I got to know the bride, Emily from my uni days since 2002. And we’ve kept in touch ever since, even though we were in different campuses. The husband, Dicson works in Malaysia local entertainment industry. Hence, there are some local celebrities among the invited guests. Emily sings with her band — Infinity Music, and they perform a lot for events and wedding receptions. She is a songstress.

How the couple made their entry to the banquet hall was rather different. Dicson marched in with his mother, while singing a Cantonese song by A-Niu. It was quite a surprised to me , and I kept guessing where the bride will come from. The bride came from level 2 of the restaurant, singing “Sometimes when we touch” by Olivia Ong.

A very good looking groom.

Emily, the bride.

The toast — Yam seng!
There was a lucky draw session after the toasting and cake cutting session. The giveaway goodies are from the sponsors for the dinner. The other thing that sets this dinner reception apart from others are the door gifts, it look pretty commercialized, as they’re also giveaway from the sponsors. If I remember correctly, the grand prize for the lucky draw was two admission ticket to Jolin Tsai concert in Merdeka Stadium, KL.

I didn’t really shoot much in this dinner, as I was attending the reception as a guest. The lenses used for this event include EF 70-200mm f/4L USM, EF 50mm f/1.8 II, and EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM. I’m putting the rest of the photos in Simple Viewer Gallery, for browsing convenience.

And last but not least, here this is probably what I will be updating on in my next entry.
