Wedding Portfolio 2010/11

Sunday, July 31st, 2011

I am back online! I had some issues with my internal hard drive last week. The system shows warning on the failing hard drive, and the whole system was slowing down. I was lucky that the system didn’t crash, and I was still able to boot into the system to back up all  the files. Total data transferred was estimated to be close to 1.5TB. That’s inclusive of data transfer for my external drive, as well as backing up the core system on my internal drive.

Bride waiting for Groom's arrival.

That unforeseen circumstances was pretty much the reason to the delay for this entry. I have planned to release this entry right after the last one on wedding. It was about time for me to refresh my portfolio compilation with some images from the recent assignments and events.

Ben & Berenice, Kuching

Sunday, July 17th, 2011

I’ve been kept busy with my work schedule lately, and I haven’t really got time to tweak this new theme just yet. Everything is still in a mess, and I had to scout for new Gallery plug-in after Simple Viewer decides to change its feature in their latest release. So, in this entry, I’m putting this plugin by DM production to test. I’m quite pleased with what I have so far. I hope you all would like it.

For this entry, I am posting one of my assignments last year. I had a chance to shoot for my friend Edwin Lay for this occasion. It was a great honor to be able to to witness the celebration between Ben and Bernice. I’d like to thank Edwin once again for the opportunity.

I shall keep this entry short, and leave some of my favorite pick in the DM Album below. The slideshow should autorun, and if you feel like viewing it in Fullscreen, by all means please do. Please feel free to give feed me with your experience on the DM album, the new plugin I have installed here.

Cheers!

Picture of the Day

A typical sight on a wedding day. As the bride made her way to the church entrance, two of the videographers were closing in behind her.

Here is one of the shots I had last Saturday at St. Thomas Cathedral, Kuching. Somehow, the four subjects were so focused in what they were doing. The Bride, was careful with her movement, as she tried to make her way to the church entrance. Her movement was somewhat restricted by the wedding gown, so she had to be very careful. The lady with the red umbrella, carefully guiding the bride along the way, and was on standby in case the bride needs assistance. Lastly, the two videographers were on full focus with their composition and recording with the camera.

It was a beautiful morning that day. I hope you like this shot.

A Happening Wedding Reception with Lucky Draw

Friday, May 27th, 2011

And I kid you not. I have recently attended my friend’s wedding reception held at Petaling Jaya. The hosting venue was at Oriental Banquet Restaurant. It was my first time attending a wedding in Peninsular, as a guest. There’s quite a few differences between the dinner reception over there, and the ones held here in Kuching. Then again, I wouldn’t use this as a benchmark to wedding reception in Peninsular (or PJ/KL). This wedding reception is rather out of ordinary.

A brief introduction on the couple and this wedding reception. I got to know the bride, Emily from my uni days since 2002. And we’ve kept in touch ever since, even though we were in different campuses. The husband, Dicson works in Malaysia local entertainment industry. Hence, there are some local celebrities among the invited guests. Emily sings with her band — Infinity Music, and they perform a lot for events and wedding receptions. She is a songstress.

How the couple made their entry to the banquet hall was rather different. Dicson marched in with his mother, while singing a Cantonese song by A-Niu.  It was quite a surprised to me , and I kept guessing where the bride will come from. The bride came from level 2 of the restaurant, singing “Sometimes when we touch” by Olivia Ong.

There was a lucky draw session after the toasting and cake cutting session. The giveaway goodies are from the sponsors for the dinner. The other thing that sets this dinner reception apart from others are the door gifts, it look pretty commercialized, as they’re also giveaway from the sponsors. If I remember correctly, the grand prize for the lucky draw was two admission ticket to Jolin Tsai concert in Merdeka Stadium, KL.

I didn’t really shoot much in this dinner, as I was attending the reception as a guest. The lenses used for this event include EF 70-200mm f/4L USM, EF 50mm f/1.8 II, and EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM. I’m putting the rest of the photos in Simple Viewer Gallery, for browsing convenience.

And last but not least, here this is probably what I will be updating on in my next entry.

I’ve been away..

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

I have been busy, and have not been able to do any update here for the past month. It was pretty crazy last month, and especially the past couple of week. I have not been able to post a follow up entry on the Sandisk’s feedback!

All those will be sorted out soon, as my schedule runs a little easier from now till early July.

Here’s a photo which goes with this entry.
