Tilt-Shift Again

I had a wedding to cover this morning, and things went well, despite early weather scare. There was heavy downpour this morning, but the situation eventually improved at the right time. Thank God for that. :)

Here’s a photo to share with. I just couldn’t resist doing this fake tilt-shift. :)

Christmas is around the corner, and new year is coming soon. Have you thought about your new year resolution? How was your last year’s? It’s year end, and I’m getting bit tied up recently, partly, I’m making plans for year 2010. Hopefully 2010 is much better than this year (2009).

Here’s one shot I took recently, with the Ultra Wide Angle (Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6). Wide Angle is poisonous isn’t it? I would love to own one myself, someday.

Jon Chong’s Homecoming at 175º Café

I have just completed one of few projects I have got in hand, and I’m relieved that it’s all over now. The sound of applause from the guests are surely rewarding, and satisfying. That’s when you know your work is appreciated. :)

Anyways, there’re few agendas lining up for me already next weekend, and it’s gonna be yet another packed weekend for me. One of the exciting agenda for next weekend will be this event next Sunday (20 December 2009). My friend, Jon Chong, will be celebrating his homecoming with his debut album “State of My Mind”. Jon is currently based in Singapore, and he is blessed with his musical talent. Do check out more on his album and his performance this coming Sunday at 175º Café, Kuching.

Another Basketball Night @ MBKS

A filler post this time.

I actually brought my 50D, mounted with my reliable EF 50mm f/1.8 II to the basketball court one night. And, started shooting the boys in action. All these shots were shot without flash, and with aperture shot wide open too. Most of the shots were shot between f/2.2 to f/2.5. Pretty wide eh?

[smooth=id:3;]

FYI, the B&W shots are shot directly on camera, and NOT conversion from color to monochrome in post processing.

p/s: I’ve posted these photos on my Facebook gallery before. So most of you may have seen this on Facebook.

What happened in September?

Things weren’t quite a smooth sail for me lately. I thought I almost lost 2 Sandisk CF cards, 2GB and 4GB. Thank God I didn’t. I actually panicked that night, when I couldn’t find my card holder (with the 2 CF cards inside). It was late at night, and I was getting more and more frustrated. In the end, I let my camera dropped off from chair or knee level, and landed on my lens first.

Apparently, there was no major damage. My camera escaped unscathed! The only damage was the 72mm Hoya UV Filter attached to my Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 EX DC Macro lens. Here you go, the two photos showing the damage.

Well, gone is my filter. Replacement for that filter will probably cost me a MYR 100. At least there was no extensive damage to my camera body or lens, right?

I was tied up with several issues and agendas, and a few assignments. That explains my disappearance since 18 September. I have just upgraded my WordPress to 2.8.4. I think there’s a bit of change since 2.8.1. You’ve gotta check with the official documentation from WordPress.org to be sure of.

I have also installed a couple new plug-ins, of which I am gonna give it a debut here in this post. I shall showcase my product shoot with a local bakery on their mooncakes, in conjuction of the Mooncake (or Mid-Autumn) Festival (中秋节). The Festival was on last Saturday, 3 October 2009.

Short note on the mooncake shoot, the set up was quite simple, with only 1 speedlite fired off-camera, and i made most of the day light from the window.

I have quite a lot of photos to clear off, and I hope it won’t be too long till I update my next entry. Cheers!
