Kuching Festival Food Fair is here again.

I was told that there was to be a customary parade at the Kuching Festival Food Fair, hence, I stopped by to check out the parade and the preparation. I was hoping to snap some shots of the parade, but end up snapping aimlessly in the food fair.

Anyways, here are the few shots I took that evening. I shot what I thought was interesting that came into my line of sight.

That is all from 1st August. Kuching Festival Food Fair runs from 31 July – 21 August 2009. (Please correct me if I get this wrong. )

p/s: I was told that there is no parade this year, as the organizers decided to go for cost saving measures. What a disappointment! I have never seen the parade myself before. Never, ever!

Bombs Galore?

Happy New Year! Gong Xi Fa Cai!

Usually an hour before the clock strikes twelve, the public funded fireworks display was already put on show. If you drive through the streets in Kuching, for a second, you might imagined yourself being in a Hollywood-produced War movie. You have the smokey air, the flashes of light from the sky, and the sound of explosion. Almost there…

This year round, I personally feel that the firework was not seen as much as it was in the past years, at least in my area here. Could it be the economy slump people caught in with?

Anyway, let us pray that it will be a bullish year for all of us in this year of Golden Ox. Happy New Year!

Took only a few shots last night, around my housing area. Again, I dare not to step out any further as the kids from my neighbor opposite kept throwing bombs towards the middle of the road there (towards my direction), without much consideration. Unbelievably, their parents were watching from their car porch, and they hadn’t said a word.

I got this trail by randomly pointing my camera upwards, hoping to catch some firework, but it seems this is the best I could get. LOL!

Notice the explosion on the lower left of the picture, the kids kept throwing the explosive towards my direction! I was just somewhere near there, quite near, bout 5-6 feet away? Gee I could feel the shockwave after each explosion. =.=”

So, all I can say is my housing area is not a safe place to shoot the fireworks display despite the heavy presentation of public funded fireworks display.

Fann Wong @ the Spring – Part 1

A week ago, Fann Wong and some other local celebrities, as well as an actor from Mainland China, came visiting Kuching. It was a promotional event for Astro’s Chinese New Year album 牛转乾坤, as well as for two of Astro’s latest drama showing on AEC and ShuangXing (双星).

This is when I was being extremely absent minded. I packed all my gears into my camera bag, drove all the way to the Spring shopping mall, and only to realize that I left my CF card holders (with 3 CF cards in it) at home. I have no CF in my camera. I went to the battlefield with my firearms, minus the ammunition. How cleaver.

So, that is when Mike made me shoot using his company’s EOS 450D. Oh well, so I did him a favor, snapped few shots with EOS 450D. I mounted my EF 90-300mm f/4.5-5.6 USM to that camera body, and start snapping away. It was quite crowded, so I couldn’t really move around, so I only took the shots from one angle that day. Here are the shots from that day.
